Assistant Operations Manager

NEW ROLE for the NEW YEAR! Our client a funding solutions (working capital, trade finance, debtor finance, secured lending) business servicing the SME industry seeks an Assistant Operations Manager to join their team. Newly created role due to growth, and will assist in setting up their Trade Finance space. Role reports to the Head of Operations. This role is pretty much the 2IC to the Head of Operations and requires someone with sound operations experience within this niche funding space, ideally with imports and exports experience, and a sound understanding of their funding solutions from an operations and business processes perspective.

The role in a nutshell: responsible for supporting the Head of Operations covering the full end-to-end of the operations functions and staff management for the business. The role will have a core focus on customer requirements and the working capital cycle optimisation through operational execution of products and the business processes. You’ll manage the verification teams, manage stakeholder relationships, review internal controls and risk management, trace and measure operational effectiveness, manage the human financial and IT resources in the teams, executed the trade finance products, verify that all the import and export transactions are dome with the necessary procedures with correct documentation etc. closely monitor cash flow of clients to manage repayments, ensure strong relationships and support the legal and credit departments, provide training to staff, contribute to building systems, procedures, processes and reporting. Must have leadership qualities, as the role required the development of a high-performance team, and culture. Support the head of Operations in the design, implementation and improvement of their working capital products and be the 2IC and back up to the Head of Operations function for the business. Qualifications, experience & competencies required:


Minimum of a completed BCom degree or similar (business management / commerce / finance)


Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a financial services working capital products team with exposure particularly to stock finance, debtor finance, forex or bridging loans sought


Must have operational and / or auditing experience in debtors and stock


Working knowledge of the imports and exports industry with the full end-to-end value chain – would be a 1st prize!


Must have high levels of numeracy and accuracy


Must have a natural ability to problem solve, work well under pressure and have the emotional maturity to handle conflict


High attention to detail, strong project management and time management skills


Must have excellent relationship building skills with an awareness of internal and external customer requirements.


PC literate – MS Office Suite advanced level
