Description
As a Manager in Advisory, you'll build valued
relationships with external financial sector clients and internal peers and
develop a portfolio of business by ensuring a strong focus on exceptional
client delivery.
As part of the Financial Services Risk
Management team, you'll build valued relationships with external banking and
insurance clients and internal peers and develop a portfolio of business by
focusing on high impact opportunities. You'll help develop presentations and
proposals for moderately complex projects - or elements of highly complex
projects - and provide subject matter insight to bids and proposals. This will
require a strong understanding of the latest regulatory, political and
industry thinking on how institutions must
adapt to the changing regulatory landscape.
You'll actively establish, maintain and
strengthen internal and external relationships and confirm that work delivered
to clients is of a high quality. As part of this, you'll anticipate and
identify risks and escalate issues, as appropriate. As an influential member of
the team, you'll help to create a positive learning culture and will coach and
counsel junior team members and help them to develop. In line with our

Your client responsibilities:
- Assist
with complex problem solving of client issues - Focus
on the delivery of Advisory engagements, including reporting to clients - Assist
with workshops and facilitation - Assist
in managing the financial aspects of engagements by organising staffing,
tracking fees and communicating issues to project leaders - Participate
in business development initiatives - Build
strong internal relationships within Financial Services Africa and across
other services - Supporting
and guiding clients to meet regulatory requirements for reporting and
business standards
Your people responsibilities
- Develop
people through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring staff - Understand
and follow workplace policies and procedures - Build
strong internal relationships within EY Advisory Services and with other
services across the Organization
Qualifications
Technical skills requirements
- A
minimum of 3 years of work experience in a conduct-related risk/
compliance management role within financial services, either in an
industry line function and/or consulting capacity - A
good understanding of how conduct regulation affects people, processes and
systems of a financial services organisation, and proven track record of
facilitating change accordingly - A
minimum of 3 years’ experience in the insurance and/or banking sector - Proficiency
with MS Office - Honours
or Master's degree in Finance, Business or other related field - Demonstrated
previous experience with/ exposure to implementation of Treating Customers
Fairly, Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act, Consumer
Protection Act and related regulation, as applicable to banks, insurers
and/or asset managers - Additional
experience based in the Financial Markets Act and related regulation would
be an advantage - In
addition, an understanding of/ previous exposure to conduct-related
aspects of financial crime and client-tax requirements based in the
Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) Act, CRS regulations (Regulation 210),
SARS Public Notices 508 and 509, etc., would be an advantage - Ability
to understand and adapt to changing regulatory and legislative
requirements
Additional skills requirements
- Relevant
degree with strong academic record - Legal
academic background or demonstrated affinity would be an advantage - Previous
experience in managing the complexity of regulatory requirements across
pan-African jurisdictions would be an advantage - Proven
track record of performing in a project-driven environment is a
requirement - Strong
analytical, interpersonal and communication skills - Complex
problem-solving capabilities - An
